Frequently Asked Questions
Is the 3D/4D Ultrasound covered by Insurance?
NO Since 3D/4D Ultrasounds is an elective ultrasound, and not something that is required for your care,
insurance companies do not cover this ultrasound session. Therefore, this will be an out of pocket expense.
When is the best time for a 3D/4D ultrasound?
The recommended time is between 24 to 34 weeks. We feel the best time is 28, 29 and 30th week. 3D/4D
ultrasound can be done up 35 weeks.
Do I need an appointment?
Yes, you need to call and make an appointment. We require a credit card to keep on file when making the
appointment. We require 24 hour notice to cancel an appointment if not then there will be a $25.00 charge
on the credit card that we have on file.
What are the hours of operation?
We are open 6 days a week but our hours vary. There will always be someone in the office Monday through
Saturday from 11am to 6pm. We are opened on Sundays from 12pm to 5pm. We do most of our
appointments either in the evenings stating at 6pm and on the weekends.
Is there anything I can do to improve my sonogram pictures?
Yes, make sure you drink plenty of water thought your pregnancy. 1 hour before coming in for your
appointment please eat a high calorie meal and ½ hour before drink a bottle of water or juice. Please bring
snacks just in case baby is sleeping and needs sugar to be woken up.
Does your facility use certified ultrasound technologists?
All of our techs are ARDMS* Certified Sonographers in Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
How long will my appointment take?
Depending on the package you choose, the Ultrasound session will last between 10 to 30 minutes.
Are 3D images always good photos?
Although sometimes the positioning of your baby can make it more difficult to get that perfect picture, our
experience in ultrasound will help increase the chances for the best imaging possible. All of our skilled
sonographers have an abundance of experience in detailed obstetrical scanning.
Is ultrasound safe?
This is probably the most important question to ask. Ultrasound has been used safely in obstetrics since the
1950s. There have been no confirmed adverse biological effects to mothers or their babies caused by exposure
from ultrasound instruments. However, it is critical that an experienced certified sonographer does your
ultrasound and that you feel comfortable with the knowledge and expertise of the clinic that's providing the
service.
What is the difference between 3D & 4D images compared to the 2D?
The 2D (2 dimensional) image is the flat black and white picture that looks like an outline or skeletal image of
your baby that you get at your diagnostic ultrasound. The 3D (3 dimensional) image will look more realistic,
like a detail photograph of your baby. The 4D (4 dimensional) uses the 3D technology to view your baby in
"live motion" like a video.
Can I bring my family?
We encourage you to bring your family and friends to share this magical moment with you while everyone
watches the “Newest Star” on our large flat screen T.V.
What Ultrasound equipment do you use to perform the 4D Ultrasounds?
We use the state of the art GE Voluson 730 to complete all ultrasound examinations. The GE Voluson 730 has
been seen in GE television commercials and many printed articles from around the world. This machine is the
best 2D, 3D and 4D ultrasound. Please note, many organizations claim to use "state-of-the-art" equipment,
when in fact they use older or inferior technology.
